Dies are the tools through which aluminium travels while becoming a profile. The die is placed within the extruder and is replaced per each profile. Extrusion of aluminium involves heating the raw material and pushing it through the die and out of the extruder onto the cooling tables. Dies are made of steel, a metal harder than aluminium, which allows the aluminium to flow and shape through it. Dies are designed to include an opening in the shape of the desired profile. Each profile has a die. Depending on the size and shape of the profile, sometimes there are a few openings for the same profile in a die. Popular profiles have more than one die in order not to allow continuous production in case a die falters. We produce about 150 dies a month in the die factory in SHL-ALUBIN.
The whole process takes place in the factory: from drawing of the die to shaping and finishing which allows the die a long lifespan. The die factory allows us to provide our cutomers with new products in a timely manner.
