Anodize

Anodization is an electro-chemical method in which the surface of the material is processed to create an alumina acid which weathers harsh conditions. The depth of the anodized layer is determined by the time the profiles spend in the anodize baths.

When exposed to acidic materials, difficult weather or maritime environment aluminium is corroded. To prevent this uneasthetic and harmful process aluminium profiles are coated with paint or anodize.

The great advantage of the anodization procedure is that it is done on the profile itself and therefore the material is protected against the elements. Another advantage, in the eyes of many, is that the material keeps its metallic look. The downside: the variety of colors is very limited and their tones vary.

Anodization takes place in a few steps. First, the profiles are brushed to create silky surface, polished to create shiny surface or left untouched to create matte surface. Then they are cleaned with warm water and soap. Afterwards, the surface is corroded methodically to create tiny poures. In the next step the surface is processed to create the alumina acid and finally it is sealed. The different steps take place in various baths which stand in a row. The profiles, attached to rods, are submereged and then lifted from these baths according to the various steps in the procedure.

The anodize line in Alubin is the biggest in Israel and the first one to have been recognized by the Israeli Institution of Standards.
